Founder and Managing Director of REach®
Constance Freedman has been working in venture, technology and real estate since 1997. She joined the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® as Vice President of Strategic Investments in late 2008 to launch its strategic investment arm, Second Century Ventures (SCV).
Constance leads all investment activity for SCV and is active on its portfolio company boards including DocuSign, Updater, and Xceligent. Prior to joining SCV, Constance was an investor with Cue Ball, an early and growth stage investment fund focused on the information services and consumer sectors. Constance began her career spending seven years on an operating capacity at tech startups, Molecular (backed by CMGI, acquired by ISOBAR) and Account4.com (acquired by Lawson) and prior to that was a licensed real estate professional for three years.
In 2014, Constance was recognized by Crain's Business in its prestigious 40 Under 40 award and was also named as one of Crain's Chicago Top Tech 50. She was also named into Swanepoel's top 200 in real estate. Constance served on the Advisory Board for the National Venture Capital Association's (NVCA) Corporate Venturing Group from 2010-2013 and is on the Board of Overseers for the non-profit, From the Top.
Constance earned a BS from Boston University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Entrepreneur In Residence of REach®
Alex comes to REach® with a wealth of start-up and operating experience. Alex is responsible for identifying, evaluating and executing strategic investments for REach and Second Century Ventures. Alex also supports existing portfolio companies being a coach / mentor for management teams with the goal of increasing company value.
Alex brings over 25 years of leadership specializing in building multi-disciplinary teams that thrive in pressured start-up and SaaS / subscription environments. He has particular expertise in driving product and technology vision, increasing subscriber base while lowering acquisition cost, reducing monthly churn and increasing ARPU and lifetime value. Alex was the CTO of Market Leader (formerly NASDAQ: LEDR and acquired by Trulia), a SaaS-based marketing and CRM platform where he drove product, technology, production operations and advertising / yield management. Prior to Market Leader, Alex was Co-Founder and CTO at Roost.com - an innovative platform for real estate search and social media marketing which was acquired by Vertical Response.
Alex is active in the entrepreneurial and technology communities serving as an advisor to several start-up companies. He was recently included in the Global Top 1,000 Chief Technology Officers (Bloomberg, S&P, The Global Leaders). Alex is a graduate of the General Management Program from Harvard Business School.
Principal - REach®
Mark comes to REach® with a valuable background of start-up and M&A experience. He is responsible for the development and execution of REach® and is also responsible for identifying, evaluating and executing strategic investments for SCV as well as supporting existing SCV portfolio companies.
Prior to joining SCV, Mark was the COO at Monthlys Inc., an e-commerce start-up company funded by Lightbank (Groupon co-founders) providing a go-to marketplace for consumers to discover, purchase and manage subscriptions and memberships to local products and services. Prior to Monthlys, Mark was the President & COO of Active Radius, LLC, a start-up company that provides technology-based marketing solutions to real estate and other service professionals, where he established and executed the strategic vision of the company and built and managed all departments within the organization. Prior to Active Radius, Mark was a Vice President in Investment Banking at Citi where he led transaction teams during the execution of M&A and capital markets transactions across a broad range of industries including a significant focus on technology, media and telecom.
Mark is active in the entrepreneurial and technology communities serving as an adviser and consultant to several start-up companies. Mark received a BBA from the University of Notre Dame.
Sr. Associate NAR REach®
Shalin Sheth has been critical to the launch of REach® and plays a key role in all of its operations from idea generation to execution. In addition, Shalin works with Second Century Ventures to help identify, evaluate, and execute investments and support existing portfolio companies.
Prior to Second Century Ventures, Shalin worked at Google where he developed sales strategy for its daily deal product. Shalin was previously at Tabula, a venture-backed Silicon Valley start-up, where as Product Manager he set the direction of its cloud-based software tools resulting in the alpha release to the first set of customers. Prior to Tabula, he worked at Xilinx, a semiconductor company, where he defined new product features and was awarded two patents on security solutions. Shalin is also a licensed real estate professional.
Shalin was previously on the Board of Directors and remains active with the Foundation for Freedom, an education based non-profit promoting literacy. Shalin holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management and has earned an MS and BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
